- Welcome to Aviva College's
Certified Professional Midwife Programs

Congratulations, you have found your way to the birthplace of a new pathway into midwifery practice, one that provides the same instructor-led, course-scheduled, classmate-interactive learning experience that a brick and mortar school offers, but conducts all its courses 100% online. We do not leave you to your own devices in any way, and you are not geographically bound to a campus location.
Taking all your coursework online frees you to do your hands-on clinical apprenticeship training anywhere midwives practice legally, and unlike other distance programs Aviva College arranges your apprenticeship for you and provides a robust online, instructor-led, classmate-interactive clinical practicum learning community where we share clinical experiences in Mock Review activities and tie each clinical skill you learn in practice directly to the relevant learning objectives in the syllabi of our online courses.
We offer half-time, full-time and accelerated scheduling options.
We welcome students with no prior experience, those with some apprenticeship experience seeking coursework and CPM Exam prep, and experienced midwives seeking continuing education or a degree.
Evidence-based, practice-oriented, clinically grounded and academically rigorous, Aviva College's course of training leads to a Certificate in Midwifery with an option to continue to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree in Midwifery (BSM). Our program provides full preparation to qualify for and pass the NARM exam to become a Certified Professional Midwife, and strives to meet the most stringent state licensure standards as well.
Admissions and Prerequisites

Our admissions requirements are simple. Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Take our two-week Orientation to Midwifery Programs course, which includes our admissions application fee. If you pass this course, and demonstrate in your application good character and commitment to becoming and being an outstanding midwife, then you will be admitted to our program on the condition that you demonstrate basic reading, writing and math skills by the end of your first term. We also offer developmental reading, writing and math courses with midwifery-related content for those who need tobrush up before continuing with the midwifery program course sequence.
- 3/5/2012 - 3/18/2012
- 6/4/2012 - 6/17/2012
The cost of the course, which includes the application fee, is $150.00. In order to enroll in the Orientation course, please email our Director of Admissions and Student and Affairs, Brook Holmberg: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

* Half-Time costs are based on an estimated 20% increase in tuition at the start of Year 5.
** Estimates may vary from actual cost by about 10% to 20% depending on changeable factors such as books, materials and clinical fees imposed by clinical sites.
*** We do not recommend attempting an accelerated schedule unless you have a substantial amount of transfer credit to reduce the total and weekly workload and the total and monthly cost of the program. The cost and time commitment figures here represent the amount for a student with no advanced standing, and are provided in this table as a reference, not as a typical schedule for an accelerated student.*
**** Including all tuition, fees, books and materials
NOTE: Clinical Hours will vary considerably from week to week and term to term, and are unlikely to be steady as depicted in the estimation chart above. Clinical hours will vary based on availability of suitable clinical placements, how busy the clinical site is, and the unpredictable timing and duration of births.
